Organisations have congratulated Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) president Peter Mutharika for emerging victorious in the September 16, 2025 Presidential Election.
This followed a Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) declaration of his victory yesterday.
For example, National Advocacy Platform (Nap) has described Mutharika’s victory as a reflection of the sovereign will of Malawians freely expressed at the ballot.
In a statement released on September 24, 2025, Nap says the peaceful conduct of the polls demonstrated the country’s commitment to democracy and the Republican Constitution.

The body has urged the President-Elect to lead with humility, inclusivity and courage by uniting Malawians across political, regional, and social divides.
“Leadership at this moment must focus on healing divisions, strengthening democratic institutions and delivering on the urgent priorities of economic recovery, youth empowerment and protection of the vulnerable,” the statement reads.

The statement has been signed by Nap Chairperson Benedicto Kondowe and National Coordinator Baxton Nkhoma.
On its part, People’s Federation for National Peace and Development (Pefenap) has hailed security institutions for ensuring that peace prevailed from the time Mec declared 60 days of official campaigning.

“The Malawi Defence Force, Malawi Police Service, Malawi Prisons Service, and all State agencies that participated in activities, including logistics, must be hailed for contributing to the proliferation of peace. We believe that they will continue to do their job professionally as vote counting for Parliamentary and Local Government Elections continues.
“We, as Pefenap, also hail the people of Malawi for showing the world that elections can be conducted in a peaceful manner. Let us continue preserving peace for the betterment of our country,” Chaka said.
In yet another statement, Youth and Society (Yas) has described Mutharika’s victory not only a personal achievement but also a renewed mandate from Malawians, a sacred second chance to lead with wisdom, humility, and a steadfast commitment to the common good.
“As the voice of young Malawians, Yas calls on you to seize this moment with both humility and determination. The people demand leadership that breaks decisively with the past, leadership that confronts corruption without compromise, dismantles entrenched systems of favouritism, restores the rule of law and opens civic space for citizens to participate freely.
“Above all, they demand leadership that invests in the energy and creativity of the youth, ensuring that development is not the privilege of the few but the shared inheritance of every Malawian,” Kajoloweka says.
