Copyright Society of Malawi (Cosoma) has said it will continue engaging creatives.
The copyright body made the call in Lilongwe on Monday during a workshop on ‘Empowering Cultural Practitioners in Malawi for Enhanced Freedom of Expression’.
“We, as Cosoma, are committed to empowering creative and fostering a collaborative environment that promotes artistic growth, protects creators’ rights and contributes to national development,” the copyright body’s spokesperson Catherine Mitungwi Chiumia said.
The workshop brought together cultural practitioners, government representatives and stakeholders to strengthen advocacy capacity within the creative sector.
Discussions focused on enhancing freedom of expression, exploring opportunities for cultural platforms and festivals and engaging in critical policy frameworks, including the National Culture Policy, and the evolving regulatory environment.
