The Organising Committee of the Malawi Sport Awards has expressed satisfaction with the public response to the ongoing voting process for the 2025 awards.
The annual ceremony, which is scheduled for February 27, 2026 at Sunbird Livingstonia Hotel in Salima District, will recognise outstanding sports personalities, administrators, journalists and programmes that excelled during the 2025 sporting season.
Organising committee chairperson Limbani Matola Thursday said the enthusiasm shown by the public demonstrated growing interest in celebrating sporting excellence in Malawi.
He has since urged more Malawians to participate in the voting process, which started on Wednesday, saying that public involvement played a crucial role in determining the winners. “This is an important opportunity for Malawians to support their favourite athletes and administrators. Those who receive the highest number of votes stand a better chance of winning,” Matola said.

Winners of the Malawi Sport Awards will represent the country at the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Regional Annual Sports Awards (Rasa) to be held in Angola on May 23, 2026.

“As they will be representing the national flag, they will be representing every Malawian. It is, therefore, essential that the public takes part and makes its voice heard,” Matola said.
Public voting contributes 30 percent to the final outcome, whereas the adjudication panel accounts for 70 percent. Members of the public can cast their votes through the official portal at http://awards.malawisport.mw.
Voting closes on February 20, 2026.
The selection process follows five structured stages to ensure fairness and credibility.

The process begins with the nomination stage, where sports journalists and national sports associations submit nominees in various categories. This is followed by a shortlisting stage, during which nominations are reviewed to confirm eligibility.
The third stage is adjudication, where the panel evaluates the shortlisted candidates to determine the top three finalists in each category.
The fourth stage involves public voting, allowing Malawians to choose their preferred candidate from the three finalists.
The final stage is aggregation, where scores from adjudication (70 percent) and public voting (30 percent) are combined to determine the overall winners.
