The country’s celebrated United Kingdom-based comedian Daliso Chaponda has extended his talent to Cartoon Network.
The one-time British Got Talent finalist is starring in a new Cartoon Network animation mini-series called Garbage Boy and Trash Can where he voices the villain Doctor Sore Eyes.
Daliso said Wednesday that, for years, people have been telling him that he has a cartoon voice.
“Well, now I am officially in it. It was great fun doing it and I hope people enjoy the first episode,” he said in a video of a teaser for the cartoon.
He said this is a Cartoon Network’s first ever series created and produced in Africa.

“The show was created by Ridwan Shades Moshood and thanks to Mike de Seve for directing me. It was not recorded in studio as it was during pandemic lock-downs; so, most of this dialogue was done in my kitchen with my head stuck in a portable sound booth,” he said.
The cartoon premiered on July 17 2023 on DStv channel 301.
Daliso said the episodes will be beamed at 5:45pm on Mondays.
Recently the comedian admitted that shows in Africa do not pay him as much but he loves them in that they pay his soul.

Daliso, son to former minister and legislator George Chaponda, recently held shows in eSwatini, South Africa and Zambia, which earned him praise, and they follow the Wakanda For Laughter tour, which included Malawi, which he held last year.
