Industrialisation, Business, Trade and Tourism Deputy Minister Edgar Tembo has underscored the critical role private sector investment plays in accelerating the industrialisation agenda.
“The government remains committed to creating an enabling environment that encourages businesses to invest in industries that support economic growth and the attainment of the Malawi 2063 development aspirations,” Tembo said in Blantyre, where he officially opened the refurbished K13 billion CFAO Mobility 3S facility at Top Mandala.
The facility has been modernised to meet contemporary standards in the automotive industry.
“The government recognises the role of private sector investment in driving innovation, creating employment opportunities and supporting the country’s development aspirations,” Tembo said.

Tembo said CFAO Mobility’s investment was significant in strengthening Malawi’s industrial base and promoting economic growth, in line with the Malawi 2063 vision.
The 3S facility integrates sales, servicing and spare parts, providing customers with a comprehensive range of automotive services under one roof.
Tembo added that the investment demonstrated the firm’s confidence in Malawi’s economy and would further strengthen the automotive industry through improved technology, skills development and customer service.
“This is a milestone for the broader industry. The investment in people, skills, technology and customer experience in the mobility industry will support our economy,” he said.

CFAO Mobility Malawi Limited Managing Director Kennedy Kabaghe said the investment was particularly significant considering the economic challenges facing Malawi and the contraction of the new vehicle market by approximately 30 percent.
“We have invested K13 billion in this Blantyre facility, including [investing in] workshop modernisation and new equipment,” he said.
Kabaghe said CFAO Mobility had also opened another facility in Lilongwe, further expanding its investment in the country.
“Our investment is a clear statement of our intention to remain a committed partner in Malawi’s future,” Kabaghe said.
