Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has said the domestic transfer window officially opened on Sunday and will be closed on March 29 2024.
Fam Compliance Manager Casper Jangale said all the transfers are expected to go through the Domestic Transfer Matching System (DTMS).
“Teams are free to officially sign players. We expect all the clubs to follow transfer rules and regulations to avoid punishment. Again, we urge them to expedite their deals,” Jangale said.
Jangale said the clubs should use Mpira Connect to register their players.
He further warned clubs against player tapping which has been a problem in domestic football for many years.
“The rules and regulations on player tapping are very clear,” Jangale said.
Following the rise in cases of player tapping, the association adopted new rules and regulations last year.
The fine for player tapping was increased to K2 million from K500,000.
Player tapping happens when a club approaches an engaged player without permission from the parent club.
Although the transfer window was not officially opened, giants FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers have been the busiest teams on the football transfer market.
Bullets have already signed three players, namely goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu from Mighty Tigers, midfielder Lloyd Aaron from Civil Service United and striker Babatunde Adepoju on loan from Venda Academy FC in South Africa.

Bullets Chief Administration Officer Albert Chigoga said the club already registered their new players.
“We are simply waiting for the players’ former clubs to do the needful,” Chigoga said.
Silver have roped in defender Macdonald Lameck and striker Christopher Gototo from Blue Eagles.
Silver Chief Executive Officer Patrick Chimimba said they expect to sign more players ahead of next season.
“We will sign some players and also release some,’’ Chimimba said.
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have signed midfielder Blessings Singini from Ekwendeni Hammers.
Last season, Wanderers signed more players than other teams and they included Gaddie Chirwa, Lawrence Chaziya, Mphatso Kamanga and Christopher Kumwembe.
Teams such as Civil, Hammers, Karonga United, Kamuzu Barracks, Moyale Barracks, Mafco, Chitipa United and Mighty Tigers have been quiet.
