Agriculture experts and think tanks have called for the Farm Inputs Subsidy Programme (Fisp) to be tailored to agro-ecological zones as the country prepares for a potentially severe El Niño season.
The government is expected to roll out Fisp in September, when it is expected to target 1.22 million beneficiaries with subsidised inputs during the 2026-27 farming season.
