The National Organisation of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi (NONM) has urged the government to fast-track labour export deals as a stopgap solution to the unemployment challenge among nursing and midwifery graduates.
This follows the government’s decision to suspend recruitment and promotions in the Civil Service, a move announced on October 10, 2025 and blamed on the ballooning public sector wage bill.
