Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has swallowed its pride as it apologised to Lilongwe City Mayor Alex Peter Banda following an incident that happened during the 2026 NBS Bank Charity Shield at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.
This comes after the mayor was stopped from being part of the officials who presented medals to eventual winners Mighty Wanderers and runnersup FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
The mayor was stopped by security personnel from approaching the podium on allegations that he was not designated to be among the people for the medal event.
