Football Association of Malawi (Fam) President Fleetwood Haiya has revealed that the association is working tirelessly with Super League of Malawi (Sulom) to realise their dream of having K500 million as minimum sponsorship for the top-flight league.
Haiya made the remarks on Friday during the 2023 TNM Super League awards ceremony at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre.
Currently, TNM plc sponsors the league at K450 million in a three-year deal with K150 million as annual package.
From this amount, league champions pocket K40 million whereas runners-up get K15 million and third placed team receives K7.5 million.
Haiya, who sponsors Nyasa Capital Finance Cup in all the regions, said he understands that sponsorship should not be mistaken for a donation.

“Fellow football lovers, I made a commitment to create a conducive environment for the topflight league to flourish. Our desire is to see the league grow and become one of the most attractive and exciting leagues in the region.
“As a starting point, therefore, we are working tirelessly to ensure that we secure a minimum of K500 million for the league sponsorship and raise the subvention for each club to a minimum of K20 million. I promise you that together with the Sulom [acting] President Colonel [Gilbert] Mittawa and the entire Sulom executive committee, we will bring this dream to fruition beginning the 2024 season. We will not let you down,” Haiya, who hailed TNM for sponsoring the league, said.
On his part, Mittawa expressed gratitude to TNM plc for always supporting Sulom.
“Your support has contributed to our desire towards reviving, reforming and rebranding the league. We cannot thank you enough. We will, therefore, endeavour to jealously guard our existing partnership and give real value for your money.
