FCB Nyasa Big Bullets face a fresh battle as they are struggling to tie down slippery attacker Chikumbutso Salima to a new deal.
Discussions between Bullets and Salima are ongoing as the attacker wants an improved offer before extending his stay at the People’s Team.
Reports indicate that Salima is in his final year of his contract with Bullets and the deal is expected to expire in January 2026.
If Salima enters the final six months of his contract, he can sign a pre-contract with another team and leave the Bullets as a free agent.
This is a scenario Bullets want to avoid after losing some key players in this manner recently.

However, Bullets Chief Executive Officer Albert Chigoga said there was no need to panic as discussions with the player were at an advanced stage.
“We hope to extend our relationship and tie down the player to a new deal. He is not in a hurry; we do not want to give the player any pressure as he is still on national duty at the Cosafa in South Africa,” Chigoga said.
On his part, Salima’s manager Cephas Lingani said the attacker was yet to commit his future to the People’s Team.
“Chances are 80 percent that Salima will stay because he wants to stay. But he has his wishes which must be met. He wants a better salary to sign because to us the issue of signing on fee which only comes periodically is not a matter. We will see what happens next,” Lingani said.

Local football analyst Isaac Kamanga urged Bullets to act quickly to avoid last season’s scenario where the team lost Alick Lungu and four others who left the side as free agents.
“Salima is currently Bullets’ hottest player and very youthful. They must do everything to keep the young lad otherwise losing him will be a big loss,” Kamanga said.
