FDH Bank has said it has made headway in its plans to be the first bank to have a branch at Likoma Island and introduce the country’s first ever Islamic banking facility.
FDH Bank Board Chairperson Charity Mseka said this over the weekend in Blantyre where the bank was celebrating 15 years of its existence.
Mseka said, with this, the bank is complementing the government’s effort towards financial inclusion.
She said, the bank is on an expansion drive to operate beyond Malawi’s border.
“We want to see the bank growing even further to greater heights because it has been posting remarkable levels of profits and that growth will continue for the next 15 years,” Mseka said.

FDH Bank founder Thomson Mpinganjira described the 15-year journey of FDH Bank as mixed.
Mpinganjira advised budding entrepreneurs to be patient.
“It took me three years to start getting something from my investment in the bank. I advise up and coming business owners to take their time and give their businesses time to grow,” Mpinganjira said.
One of FDH Bank customers Gertrude Chokazinga touted the bank as a financial institution of choice in growing businesses.

She said as the bank celebrates 15 years of existence, it has contributed to their growth through the provision of soft loans that have helped them to diversify.
FDH Bank, a subsidiary of FDH Financial Holdings, started its operations in the country in 2008.
