Film Association of Malawi (Fama) said Tuesday it is all set to give people another experience as it brings the second edition of the Malawi Film Festival to be held at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe on November 24 and 25 2023.
The association has since made a call for submission of films for this year’s edition.
Fama Vice President Ashukile Mwakisulu said their making a call for submission underlines their seriousness.
“We want filmmakers in all the corners of the country to participate. We do not want to leave anyone behind and, so, let them submit the films. This year we will also have some films from Zimbabwe, Zambia and Kenya,” Mwakisulu said.
Last year, the festival saw the presence of Zambian actor Mutale Monde, better known as Mr Nguzu, who stars in Zambezi Magic show soapie Mpali.

“We are also having an international guest this year. We will let the public know at an appropriate time. We want to make it bigger and better than last year, hence the introduction of the international category. We are also having the Best Actor/Actress in a series and Best Local Series, among others,” Mwakisulu said.
He then hailed MultiChoice Malawi for partnering them again.
“We are definitely heading in the right direction and need partners and we are thankful to MultiChoice Malawi for their support,” Mwakisulu said.

MultiChoice Malawi Corporate Affairs Manager Zena Makunje said the collaboration marks a pivotal moment in the growth and recognition of the country’s burgeoning film industry.
“As MultiChoice Malawi, we remain committed to contributing to initiatives that help to create greater awareness of the value of the creative industry,” Makunje said.
She said they were thrilled to be coming on board for the second edition.
“Last year’s festival was a great success and we believe this year will be even better,” Makunje said.
She said through the partnership, MultiChoice will provide support through multimedia platforms ensuring that the festival’s reach extends beyond the confines of physical venues.
