Organisers of Uzimu Vibes Awards have released the 2023 nominees ahead of the main event set to be held at Golden Peacock Hotel in Lilongwe on November 25.
The awards which have clashed with Maso Awards to be held on the same day in the same city but at a different venue – Bingu International Convention Centre have 20 categories and they include Lifetime Achievement Award, Best Album/ Mixtape, Best Praise/ Worship Song, Best Music Video, Song of the Year, Best Radio/TV Personality, Best Producer, Best Local/ Contemporary Artist and Best Live Act.
Uzimu Vibes Communications Manager Charles Gusto maintained Tuesday that they were serious with the awards which are aimed at promoting gospel music and talent.
“We are excited in that some companies have shown interest in supporting the event. We are here to stay and the country should expect this to be happening every year,” Gusto said.
On the awards clashing with Maso Awards, which has been there for some time now and also has a gospel category in its plate, Gusto said they were not in competition with their counterpart.

“This is not a competition but we are all there to reward talent but, for us, the focus is strictly gospel music. We saw a gap in terms of rewarding gospel artists. We would have loved to have done it on a different date but it did not work,” he said.
Gusto said they engaged with Maso Awards organisers and decided to go ahead with the awards on the same day.
“We are serving different audiences and I don’t think we will divide fans,” he said.
On the nominees, Gusto said they were transparent in the process and that selection was done by the public.
