The Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, arrived in the country Sunday from Liberia but wasted no time as they went straight to Bingu National Stadium for a recovery session.
The Flames will face Tunisia in the second match of the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers Tuesday at the same venue, four days after beating Liberia 1-0 in Monrovia.
Straight from Kamuzu International Airport (Kia) in Lilongwe, the Flames had a 30-minute recovery session at BNS.

After the session, Flames coach Patrick Mabedi said despite traveling for 24 hours due to flight connections, the players will be in shape for the match against Tunisia.
“We are working with players that are a little bit younger and, so, it is very easy for them to recover and recover quickly. We just need to know what exactly we are going to do so that the players recover as soon as possible,” Mabedi said.

Ahead of Tuesday’s clash, the Flames have no injury concerns as all players are fit and took part in the recovery session.
Mabedi is likely to ring some changes to the team that played against Liberia when they face Tunisia Tuesday.
Striker Olson Kanjira was handed his debut against Liberia but it remains to be seen if he will keep his place on Tuesday.
“We are playing [against] a big team but we have to make sure that we match them pound for pound. We need to win the match,” Mabedi said.

Meanwhile, Tunisia arrived earlier than the Flames and were expected to train at Silver Stadium in the afternoon Sunday.
The Flames registered their first ever victory in West Africa after beating Liberia 1-0 on Friday.
Substitute Chifundo Mphasi scored the only goal of the match in the 77th minute.
Meanwhile, sports analyst Moses Chavula has said the Flames have chances of registering their second consecutive victory in the campaign.
“I think the players are in high spirits after the win in Liberia. The Flames should have a good game plan against Tunisia,” Chavula said.
Following the victory, the Flames are third in Group H with three points, just behind leaders Tunisia, who defeated Sao Tome and Principle 4-0 in their opening match.
Equatorial Guinea are second with three points as well after beating Namibia 1-0 on Wednesday last week.
Group winners from each group will qualify for the 2026 Fifa World Cup to be staged in Canada, Mexico and United States of America.
