The battle between Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Football Association of Malawi (Fam) took a new twist yesterday after the club appealed the latest verdict.
On Thursday, the Fam Competitions and Marketing Committee upheld its verdict following the fracas which happened in the first leg of the Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Roosevelt Mpinganjira confirmed that they have again challenged the latest verdict.
“We are not satisfied with the verdict. We have appealed again,” Mpinganjira said.

On causing abandonment of the match, the committee said, after considering the matter in line with the competition’s rules and regulations, it resolved to award the match to Silver by a margin of two goals to zero.
Wanderers have been fined K500,000 for failure to control its supporters and added that the club shall also be responsible for the costs associated with the repair and restoration of any damaged seat at BNS.
According to the verdict, Wanderers are expected to repair the seats at a total cost of K22 million.
On bringing the game of football into disrepute, Wanderers have been found guilty of failing to prevent their supporters from engaging in improper conduct, with the committee saying their actions brought the game of football, Fam, and the name of the sponsor into disrepute, in line with Article 13(2) of Fifa Disciplinary Code. For that, Wanderers have been fined K2 million.
