Football Legends Association (FLA) has announced that a new consignment of the group’s merchandise went on the market on Monday.
FLA Board Chairperson Jim Kalua said they had responded to the demands on the market, hence procuring tracksuits as well.
“We have received tracksuits and golf shirts. Remember, the previous golf shirts were in other colours but, this time, the golf shirts have been branded in national team colours. We have deliberately done this to align the football legends with [tastes of] the current generation.
“Currently, a tracksuit is going at K250,000 while the golf shirt is fetching K100,000. We have a consignment of 200 golf shirts and 300 tracksuits. We will also get a consignment of 340 replica jerseys,” Kalua, who is also Malawi National Council of Sports Board Chairperson, said.
Kalua urged the football fraternity and sporting community to support the initiative, which is aimed at raising funds for the welfare of local football legends.

“People should support the Football Legends Association’s commercialisation drive. We will be updating members and stakeholders on how sales are going and how much has been made as usual.
“We really need to show that we are accountable and there is no excuse not to do that because this is the only way we can raise funds for the legends. As a reminder, the merchandise is available at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe and Chitipi at Yugos Complex,” he said.
One member of FLA, Chiukepo Msowoya, asked fellow members to be proactive and take part in selling merchandise. “The duty is not only for our board or secretariat but for the entire members. We should be at the forefront selling replicas because the money generated is for our own good,” Msowoya said.
