Malawi Women’s National Football Team coaching panel faces reshuffle following performance related issues, Times Sport can reveal.
Reliable sources indicated that while the future of Head Coach Lovemore Fazili is guaranteed, three of his backroom staff in assistant coach Andrew ‘Aluki’ Chikhosi, goal-keepers trainer Phillip Nyasulu and fitness trainer Chisomo Banda could be replaced.
The development comes as the Scorchers are set to take part in Cosafa Women’s Championship in South Africa next month.
However, National Women’s Football Association (NWFA) Chairperson Adelaide Migogo could neither confirm nor deny the reports but she hinted that changes could be made depending on review and recommendations.
“We are aware that the team did well last year at the Cosafa tournament in South Africa. We will participate again this year. If changes are needed we will surely do so for the sake of progress.

“We are aware continuity is of paramount importance but let us keep our fingers crossed so I cannot confirm nor deny,” she said.
Meanwhile, Chikhosi, who coaches Silver Strikers Ladies formerly DD Sunshine, said he is not aware of the impending changes and will only comment much on the matter when he is communicated to.
“Aaahh bro nkhani imeneyi ndiyachilendotu sindikudziwa kalikonse mwina ikamveka ndikuuzani [This is news to me I am not aware of any story regarding to the changes that might be made so I am not better placed to comment],” he said.

However, Ntopwa FC owner Isaac ‘Jomo’ Osman asked NWFA to tread carefully in handling the matter.

Osman warned against replacing the seasoned coaches with names that are not familiar with women’s football.
“If they are planning to make some changes that is okay. But who do they want to bring in? Girls are very fragile to handle and those of us who have been with these players for so long know how best to handle them. If you handle them like men you spoil everything. So if the change will be made for the sake of it then that will be bad for the game,” he said.
