Mighty Mukuru Wanderers emphatically hammered lower tier side Santhe Admarc 5-0 yesterday at Kamuzu Stadium to book a semi-final tie against Mafco in the FDH Bank Cup.
Wanderers are chasing for their first ever FDH Bank trophy and for a moment they endured anxious moments in the first half.
However, the Lali Lubani road outfit completed the semi-finals line-up with brilliant performance in the second half having struggled to stretch the lead in the first half.
Francis Mkonda headed home a Vitumbiko Kumwenda corner-kick in the 23rd minute beyond Santhe goalkeeper Zahaya Malithano to give the Nomads the lead.

At the start of the second half, Wanderers introduced Francisco Madinga and Vincent Nyangulu for Mkonda and Chiukepo Msowoya and the move sparked life into the team’s attack.
Attacker Isaac Kaliati doubled Wanderers’ lead in the 59th minute before Madinga crowned his return with a goal two minutes later.
Kumwenda scored Wanderers’ fourth goal before Nyangulu nailed the last goal. Wanderers Coach Mark Harrison said his charges were a changed team in the second half.
“In the first half we were going through emotions. At half time we had a talk and in the second half we were brilliant doing things we did not do in the second. We need to create a winning mentality,” Harrison said.

He said his charges need to prepare cautiously for Mafco.
“It will not be an easy game. They are not bad and a physical team too,” Harrison said.
Santhe coach Macdonald Matanje said his team was not at their best.
“We were not good in all departments and did not deserve to win the game. However we have learnt a lot in the competition,” Matanje said.
In another semi-final, holders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will date Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar.
