You do not become a super star overnight. You do not become an iconic corporate leader overnight. You do not become a celebrated and most-sought-after entrepreneur overnight.

It takes patience, humility, passion, drive and determination to start small, from humble beginnings.

When you have a dream, you become crazy. You make decisions that others may say: “Look at him or her; this is being crazy.” Never be taken back by such ideologies. Such people do not see what you are seeing.

They are far from the vision that you have. Small as your beginning appears to be, keep on pushing forward.

Crazy and mad so it sounds. Charles Kadyamaliro quit his banking job to pursue an entrepreneurial dream. On October 10, 2022, he opened Charmar School.

Imagine, just imagine, the school registered six students and had seven teachers. Kadyamaliro believed that with time his dream would grow big. Less than a year later, students’ numbers at the school grew to 110.

Accept to start small. Never give up. You may have two or three customers today. That is how big dreams start. Check many people who have established offices in the cities of Blantyre, Lilongwe or Mzuzu. The tale remains the same. Day one: no customer. They only had a desk and chairs. They even doubted if things would work. Some months later, businesses picks up.

Take yourself away from the draining habit of comparing yourself with the fully established. Accept you are new on the market.

Start building your market share little by little. Find that distinctive aspect that will see you establishing yourself on the market. That becomes the business magic.

Some of the biggest businesses you see today started from garages. Some established produce sellers with great warehouses and transport infrastructure emerged from rural areas, transporting bags of produce on bicycles, one by one. With determination and zeal they grew. You can hardly believe that they have such humble beginnings.

Learn from the world of sports. Some of the cherished and established sporting icons started playing football or running barefoot. Now they are super stars. They would walk miles to the football ground or running track. All they had was hope that one day, they would make it and they did.

Now all we see is how rich they are, the vehicles they drive, the lifestyles they live. That opulence eventually obscures the humble beginnings they had.

Wh en you ar e successful, when you have made it in life, your humble beginnings become an inspirational story. Let your humble beginnings today mark the writing of your inspiring story.

Do not give up on what you are doing. The beginning may look uninspiring. You might even think that you will not make it. That is not true. You will make it.

Sometimes we are victims of impatience. We want to start an initiative today and expect to become superstars overnight. It does not work that way.

As you are working on your initiative, it is like you are polishing the diamond. Further beyond, you are going through a learning process. With time you master the trade you are in and eventually become a trade name.

Many great ideas have died the soonest they were tested all just because the initiative makers gave up easily.

Later, some people embarked on the same ideas and became successful. This is where resilience counts.

To be a success story, you need a granite heart that does not break easily. You face disappointment after disappointment but you keep on moving. You trust the process.

You surely know that one day, no matter how long it takes, your humble beginning shall be a cherished testimony.
