A field assessment by Famine Early Warning Systems (Fewsnet) has pointed at an average to above-average maize output this year, premised on what it describes as a favourable rainy season.
In its analysis, which was released on Monday, Fewsnet says cropping conditions are generally favourable, with maize currently at vegetative to reproductive stage.
