Malawi Under-20 Women’s National Football Team will be looking for a second straight victory when they face South Sudan in the 2026 Fifa Under-20 World Cup qualifiers at Juba National Stadium this afternoon.
The Junior Scorchers are coming from a 2-0 victory over their opponents in the first leg at the same venue on Tuesday.
Malawi have the luxury of still going through to the third round of the competition even with a 1-0 loss while South Sudan need more than two goals without reply to overturn the tie.
The Junior Scorchers’ coach Maggie Chombo described the match as tricky despite the first leg win.
“The battle is not over yet. We need to go into the match with a positive attitude. We must forget the first leg result and fight as if we did not win,” Chombo said.

Chombo might make one change to the starting line-up with Victoria Mkwala being in contention to start ahead of Kondawu Banda.
Mkwala impressed in the first leg after replacing Banda in the first half.
Goalkeeper Ireen Sibande, Maureen Kenneth, Asimenye Mwanyongo, captain Leticia Chinyamula and Sarah Mlimbika are likely to be in the starting line-up.
South Sudan are likely to make some changes as they look to overturn the tie with coach Simon James Yor stating that an upset is possible.

The overall winner of the two-legged tie will face either Guinea Bissau or Congo in the third round.
Malawi advanced to the second round of the competition after beating Central African Republic 4-2 on aggregate.
The Junior Scorchers won 3-1 in the first leg at Bingu National Stadium before forcing a 1-1 stalemate in the second leg in Cameroon.
