South Africa’s DStv Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to sign Malawi National Football Team and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets talented attacker Lanjesi Nkhoma, with reports indicating that they are ready to pay R4.3 million (about K255 million) for his signature.
This could make Nkhoma the most expensive Malawian player of all time, by far.
Last week, leading South African online publication Soccer Laduma reported that Chiefs enquired about Nkhoma’s services after watching him play for the Flames at the just-ended Hollywood Bets Cosafa Cup in Durban, South Africa.
Wednesday afternoon, Soccer Laduma reported that the Soweto giants have finally made an offer to Bullets for Nkhoma’s services.
It is believed that Nkhoma would replace out-of-favour Zimbabwean superstar Khama Billiat, who has not returned to Chiefs after the recent expiry of his contract.

“It’s a lot of money. It is about K255 million (R4.3 million). I am not sure how much it could be in South African Rands but the offer is now in. I am not sure when it started or when they sent it through but today (Tuesday), Bullets officials were talking about it. It’s actually tempting for the club, though they still want to have the youngster in the team,” Soccer Laduma’s report reads.
A source in the report describes Lanjesi as a very good player who can easily replace Billiat.
“If you watched him at the Cosafa Cup in Durban, you can agree that he is a very good player. He can easily replace Khama Billiat. He is actually better than Khama in how he was at that age. He is 21 years old and has a great future ahead of him. I think that is why Chiefs do not want to waste time to land him,” the source told the publication.
However, Bullets Chief Executive Officer Suzgo Nyirenda said he had not seen the offer yet.

“I have never seen any offer from any club. So, no, we don’t have any offer,” Nyirenda told the publication.
Times Sport has failed to confirm amounts at which Charles Petro, who signed for Moldova side Sheriff Tiraspol, and Peter Banda, who plays for Tanzanian giants Simba SC, were sold at.
Nkhoma scored one goal during Malawi’s 2-0 win over Seychelles in their second game at the Cosafa Cup.
Should the deal materialise, Nkhoma will follow in the footsteps of Flames caretaker coach Patrick Mabedi, who signed for Chiefs in early 2000s from Bullets.
