Kukana Kuba Kasambwe Band last Thursday shared the stage with artists such as ethno-musician Waliko Makhala and Agorosso in a Sounds of Malawi Acoustic session showcase at Jacaranda Cultural Centre (JCC) in Blantyre.
The show served as Kukana Kuba Kasambwe Band’s warm-up as they prepare for a tour of United States of America (USA) next month.
The Ndirande-based outfit, which kept the audience on the dance floor with their authentic sounds, will be performing in USA for the first.
The showcase attracted a good audience which included Silvia Hesse from Friends of Malawi in Germany as well as students and teachers from IGS School from Germany, who are here for an exchange programme with Jacaranda School for Orphans.
Waliko, who is an ethno-musician, opened the performances on the night before he paved the way for Kukana Kuba Kasambwe Band.

With Joseph Banda on acoustic guitar and vocals, Konzani Chikwata on Babatoni and Fatsani Kennedy on drums, Kukana Kuba Kasambwe reminded music lovers of their past exploits dishing out a number of songs.
Agorosso was next and he, too, did well, offering two songs including one which hits at humans for damaging the environment.
Sounds of Malawi Acoustic sessions has opened up to artists, giving them a chance every Thursday to perform and, then, a question and answer session comes showcases.
“It was another good outing where people enjoyed beautiful sounds. It was also a good welcome moment for our friends from Germany,” JCC Director Luc Deschamps said.
