Chipiku Premier Division champions Kawinga Football Club is waiting for clearance from the government to enable them to travel to Chipata, Zambia for a friendly against Zanaco FC at David Kaunda Stadium this afternoon.
This follows the cholera outbreak in Zambia which has claimed over 500 lives.
Kawinga’s Chairperson Joe Mwase said their hands are tied on the trip.
“We are ready to travel to Chipata but we are waiting from the immigration office,” Mwase said.
The team has been invited to Zambia through the Eastern Province Regional Association.

According to a letter which Times Sport has seen, the match has been organised to cement the ties between Malawi and Zambia.
“We believe the match will give you a good test as you prepare to take up your promotion to the Super League,’’ the letter reads from provincial chairperson Chrispin Kamuna.
Zanaco have two Malawian players namely striker Chawanangwa Kaonga and midfielder Robert Saizi. They are using the match to prepare for the second round. Zanaco, seven times Zambian Super League champions, are on position eight on the log table with 27 points, 12 points behind leaders Zesco United.
Despite winning the Chipiku League, Kawinga’s fate will be decided by Football Association of Malawi.

Kawinga finished top of the league with 51 points from 22 matches.
However, the team got 21 points as result of other teams’ failure to honour fixtures.
Kawinga and Namitete Zitha have been fined K500,000 each or in default face a 36 month ban for attempting to fix a match between Ngolowindo FC and Zitha.
