President Lazarus Chakwera says it is the government’s wish to see all its ministries and departments embracing digital payment.
He said e-payment services have proven useful in curbing corruption at the Ministry of Education, where one of its departments, the Malawi National Examination Board (Maneb), has successfully managed to use e-payment for administering the 2023 PSLCE and JCE examinations.
Chakwera spent Tuesday at Capital Hill, where he held meetings with technocrats from ministries and departments.
Chakwera applauded Maneb’s success in holding leakage-free PSLCE and JCE examinations.
“One of the important meetings was with the Ministry of Education; this ministry has taken my advice very seriously and, for four years, we have not heard about examinations leakage,” Chakwera said.
He, therefore, disclosed that about 44 schools are ready for intake.
The President was welcomed by Secretary to the President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba, Minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe and other government officials.
Among other engagements, Chakwera met with the Minister of Homeland Security Ken Zikhale Ngoma, Minister of Education Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima, Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani-Hara and some high-level international dignitaries.
