President Lazarus Chakwera and Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima will on Saturday be engaged in fundraising initiatives for the Malawi Youth Games.
The development comes after the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) partnered the Institute of Marketing in Malawi (IMM) to mobilise resources for the Malawi Youth Games.
MNCS Public Relations and Communications Officer Edgar Ntulumbwa said Chakwera is expected to attend the fundraising dinner at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on Saturday from 6pm.
“This dinner will be preceded by a golf tournament at Lilongwe Golf Club, which will be graced by Chilima, and will start on Saturday morning,” Ntulumbwa said.
Ntulumbwa said the Malawi Youth Games serve as a vehicle for identifying and nurturing talent across the country as all schools—that is, public and private primary and secondary schools— take part in the Games.

Meanwhile, IMM Vice President George Damson has said, by partnering MNCS, the institute is helping the nation meet some of Malawi (MW) 2063 vision goals.
In MW 2063, sport is considered as an important element of human health and development under the Human Capital Development Enabler.
“As IMM, we are very committed to making sure that we play our role towards the realisation of MW2063 as part of our strategic plan. Earlier this year, we partnered the Ministry of Tourism in hosting a public lecture on the value of tourism to Malawi as a precursor to the Takulandirani Tourism Expo.
“A few weeks ago, we hosted the Buy Malawi Town Hall, which was attended by the Minister of Industry and Trade [Simplex Chithyola Banda] and other stakeholders,” Damson said.
