Malawi Women’s National Football Team coach Lovemore Fazili believes the upcoming two friendly matches against Lesotho will be crucial preparation for the Wafcon qualifiers against Angola later this year.
The friendlies are scheduled for August 29 and 31 at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe Township, Blantyre.
“These matches are very important. From the six friendly games we have played so far, we have learned a lot. The remaining issues will be fine-tuned through these games,” Fazili said.
The matches will be the Scorchers’ seventh and eighth friendlies this year. Fazili believes the team will be ready for Angola afterward.
“If you look at the teams we have faced, they all compete at top levels—Wafcon and the World Cup. That is the level of opposition we need as we prepare for Angola,” he said.

The Scorchers recently dropped from position 154 to 155 in the Fifa/Coca-Cola Rankings following a poor run of form: five losses and one win in six matches.
They lost 4-2 to Morocco, 3-1 to Ghana, 3-0 and 2-1 to South Africa, and 2-0 to Zambia. Their sole victory came against Zambia (3-2) in Lusaka.
