MORE JOY—Mvula

Malawi National Netball Team shooter Joyce Mvula has extended her contract with UK Super League side NIC Leeds Rhinos until next year.

The club announced the new deal on its official website Tuesday, confirming that the Malawian star will return for the 2026 season.

Mvula expressed her joy at continuing with the team.

“This will be my third season. I feel comfortable here; I love it and consider it my home,” she said.

The prolific shooter said the decision to stay was easy.

“The Rhinos fans have stood by us through thick and thin. We love our fans and want them to continue this journey with us,” she said.

Mvula has been the team’s top goal scorer for the past two seasons and was named Coaches’ Player of the Year for the second year running. She netted 505 goals this season, the fifth-highest total in the competition.

Rhinos coach Lauren Palmer praised Mvula: “Her attitude, work ethic, and potential are second to none. I’m really excited to keep working with her.”

Meanwhile, Malawi Queens coach Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa also welcomed the development.

“Joyce is a very important player for us. We need more players of her calibre playing in competitive leagues in the UK,” she said.

Mvula previously won the Super League with Manchester Thunder in 2022 before signing for Central Pulse in New Zealand. She made her international debut in 2010.
