Lilongwe-based teams utilised home ground advantage as they advanced to the semi-finals of the 2023 Fam Goshen Women’s National Championship underway at Bingu National Stadium.
All the four teams— namely Ascent Academy, Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Lionesses, Civil Service United Women and Silver Strikers Ladies—showed supremacy over Southern and Northern Region teams.
Ascent will face Silver Ladies in the semi-finals whereas Civil Women meet MDF Lionesses in the semi-finals slated for Friday at the same venue.
In the quarter-finals Wednesday, Civil Women thrashed MK Academy 6-0 in an early kick off.
At press time, Silver Ladies were leading Moyale Sisters 3-1. On Tuesday, Ascent knocked out champions Kukoma Ntopwa Women following a 4-0 victory whereas Lionesses thrashed FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women.

The third-place match and final will be played on Sunday. The champions will pocket K8 million, with runners-up receiving K4 million. The third and fourth-placed team will now get K2 million and K1.5 million, respectively
