Makasu Band’s return to the fold after years of silence excited people particularly the older generation that enjoyed their past musical exploits but for some, they welcomed the news with doubts.

The Blantyre-based group seems to be serious with the revival of its music mission as it has now made a fresh step bringing on the market a track.

The iconic band has released a single titled ‘Unstoppable’ under the management and production of legendary producer Tapps Bandawe.

This is a track that has fused what Tapps has described as the Malawian and international sound that Makasu Band has always been known for since formation many rains ago.

“This is a top notch song that has undergone proper production and it is all fit to cross the borders,” Tapps, who has worked with several artists including Soldier Lucius Banda, said.

The track in its underlying message is encouraging people to be resolute and unstoppable in what “we have focused on to achieve, be it in business or personal life”.

“It is a powerful song with powerful message. Let us not be a people of doubters but rather believe in our abilities,” Tapps said.

The current Makasu Band comprises old guards in bassist Peter Likhomo and lead guitarist Collen Ali and trumpeter Wallace Ngoma as well as new crop that include lead vocalist Khizo Banda, keyboardist Mussa Mulera and drummer Vincent Manyozo.

“The band has not just made a comeback for nothing but rather it wants to reclaim its spot. The band has been groomed to be world class sound outfit by original Makasu Band founding member Stain Phiri, who remains the guiding force,” he said.
