Malawi Olympic Committee (Moc) has said it is in the process of introducing a maximum of three-term limit for its president to be in line with Olympic Charter.
Moc president Jappie Mhango disclosed this after he retained his seat unopposed during the committee’s Elective General Meeting held at Sunbird Lilongwe Sunday.
“We need to reform and also embrace best practices. The president should not be there for life and we should be giving each other a chance. We want the president to serve a maximum of three- terms,” Mhango said.
Currently, there is no term limit for the Moc president.
Maximum of three-term limits is also in line with Malawi National Council of Sports (Moc) guidelines.

According to Mhango, Moc will also have to review the constitution to have two vice presidents responsible for technical and administration.
“We also want to employ Chief Executive Officers (CEO) and we want to introduce more members to the board,” he said.
During the meeting, Francis Kakhuta Banda was elected vice president after defeating John Kaputa by 36 votes to 10.
Kaputa was the secretary general in the previous administration.
