The Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) has nullified the parliamentary election results for Lilongwe City’s Mtandire–Mtsiliza Constituency, citing what it calls serious irregularities in the handling of polling materials by the Council Returning Officer.
In a letter dated September 27, 2025, addressed to lawyer Pempho Likongwe, Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja said the commission had examined complaints lodged on September 18 and 20 and found that the handling of void votes and polling materials had departed from legally established procedures.
