Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi has said interim head coach Meke Mwase has been given freedom to choose his assistants.
Wanderers promoted Mwase to the position of head coach following the resignation of Burundian tactician Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan on Monday due to poor results.
However, reports have been rife that Mwase is considering a reunion with Malawi Women’s National Football Team Coach Lovemore Fazili after the pair worked together at Malawi National Football Team, the Flames.

In an interview Tuesday, Ndovi, while describing the Fazili reports as hearsay, said Mwase is free to work with a person of his choice
“In the best interest of the team, he has been given freedom to choose his assistants but the assistants will work on an interim basis,” Ndovi said.

On Fazili links to Wanderers, Ndovi said he was not aware of the issue.
“Treat the matter as hearsay. Mwase has not communicated any name to us,” he said.
Mwase, who is credited for helping the Flames qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, said he would announce names of his assistant once the process is finalised.
“It is too early to talk about assistants. I will communicate on the matter soon,” Mwase said.

The former Flames coach has coached several clubs including FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and TN Stars.
Before joining Wanderers, he was in charge of Msingizini Hot Spurs in eSwatini.
When contacted Tuesday, Fazili was reluctant to comment on the issue.
Fazili is likely to be maintained as Scorchers coach after guiding the team to its first ever Cosafa Women’s Championship last year.
Wanderers are on position five on the log table with 12 points from eight matches, 10 points behind leaders Silver Strikers.
