The Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) says it has observed with concern the recent trend of some political leaders and stakeholders making premature declarations of victory that it says directly contradict results officially released by the commission.
Mec chairperson Annabel Mtalimanja said that while the commission recognises and respects the right of political players to communicate with their supporters, it is concerned about the lack of accuracy, responsibility and respect for due process in such declarations.
