Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Captain Stanley Sanudi has said the team will win at least three trophies this season as a token of thanks for the support players are getting from various stakeholders.
Sanudi made the pledge during the signing ceremony of a partnership between Pemba Rubber Stamp Makers and Wanderers at Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre.
The agreement will see Pemba rewarding the Nomads’ player of the month with K300,000.
Sanudi said the players have no reason to underperform this season as there is enough motivation.
“We promise the board and our supporters that we will do everything possible on the pitch to win. I am therefore calling on my fellow players to engage the extra gear so that we lift silverware this season.

“We must play to win every game at all times. Our assurance is that we will win at least three trophies this season because of such awards which act as extra motivation,” he said.
Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Roosevelt Mpinganjira said while achieving such a feat is not easy, they will do all they can to achieve their goals.
“Winning three trophies will not be easy but we will do it because the hunger for success is there and we are all pulling in the same direction. We therefore want to thank Pemba for the kind gesture which will go a long way in motivating the players,” Mpinganjira said.
Super League of Malawi (Sulom) president Fleetwood Haiya said Pemba’s support will enhance competition in the TNM Super League.

“We are very happy to see big teams in the country being ran professionally. This award will result into stiffer competition among Wanderers players as they will all be working hard to win.
“This development is an indicator of the good things that are happening at Wanderers and as Sulom, we are very happy to see this,” Haiya said.
Pemba Managing Director Dave Pemba, who also runs Pemba Driving School, said they expect Wanderers to win at least three trophies this season.
“We want to thank our president Thomson Mpinganjira for quickly facilitating this sponsorship through his board of directors. We also thank the entire board for as allowing our company to partner Wanderers which is the oldest club in the country.
“With this, we challenge the players to win at least three trophies this season. They have no excuse for failure,” he said.
Pemba Driving School will also offer free driving lessons to the winning player or a relation of his choice if the player already has a driver’s licence.
The partnership is worth K1.5 million and runs up to the end of the season with an option to renew.
Pemba joins Smile Life who have been sponsoring the man of the match award for Wanderers players at K150,000 for each game that the team has won.
