Capital City giants Silver Strikers have been caught between a rock and a hard place as they are considering redeploying assistant coach Etison Kadenge Mwafulirwa following the lifting of his seven-week suspension for misconduct.
A well-placed source at Silver confided that the club’s Disciplinary Committee cleared Kadenge Mwafulirwa of wrongdoing and he was immediately recalled.
However, the former Ekwendeni Hammers coach has not been involved with the team.
Silver board spokesperson Willard Chakanika said Kadenge Mwafulirwa remains the team’s assistant coach.
“He is still our employee and he regretted what happened. Once he reports for work, a decision will be made on his role,’’ Chakanika said.

It is yet to be seen if Kadenge Mwafulirwa will indeed return to the main team where coach Pieter de Jongh is working with Peter Mgangira as his assistant.
Silver have four teams in their books but they all have coaches with Mac Donald Yobe taking charge of Silver Reserve whereas another former mentor Leo Mpulula is heading the Under-20 side.
Apart from the men’s teams, Silver also have a women’s team whose coach is Andrew Chikhosi.
National Football Coaches Association General Secretary Davie Mpima said the association is following the issue with keen interest.

’’We are aware of what is happening at Silver. At an appropriate time, we will meet management of the team to discuss a number of issues,’’ Mpima said.
Silver are fourth on the 16-team table with 33 points from 19 matches.
They have lost four games in the TNM Super League this season to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, Civil Service United, Bangwe All Stars and Red Lions.
The defeats have put de Jongh under pressure to deliver.
Silver’s board met him recently and told him to change the team’s fortunes in the second round so that it challenges for the league title and cups.
