Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Sunday made a big statement that the TNM Super League race might go down to the wire after beating Bangwe All Stars 3-0 to go level on points with leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium.
Peter Cholopi scored in the first half while Christopher Kumwembe and Wisdom Mpinganjira completed the rest in the second half.
Wanderers, who are still second on the log table, are now level on points with Bullets with 53 points each, but The People’s Team lead the standings thanks to a superior goal difference.
Wanderers have played 27 matches, three ahead of Bullets.
The Nomads were on the offensive from the word go as they camped in Bangwe’s half for the better part of the first stanza.

However, their dominance had no impact as their striking force was just awful as it failed to utilise their chances.
Bangwe were second on the ball and kept losing the ball cheaply, giving themselves unnecessary pressure.
The league debutants failed to tame Wanderers’ fast play as they were also physically disadvantaged.
Cholopi separated the two teams in the 33rd minute after heading home a well-taken corner by Francisco Madinga.

The lads continued playing second fiddle to the Nomads as the teams went for a break.
After missing several goal-scoring chances, Kumwembe finally found the back of the net in the 67th minute through a powerful header after being supplied by Isaac Kaliati from the left flank.
Mpinganjira completed the eventful afternoon through a powerful shot just outside the box.
Bangwe remain seventh on the log table.
In another match played Sunday, Karonga United held Silver Strikers to a goalless draw.
