Mr and Miss Albinism returns for its second edition after a four year hiatus and is set to be held on December 9 2023 at Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe.
Association of People Living with Albinism in Malawi (Apam) is spearheading the event in conjunction with Fashion Pallet.
Apam National Coordinator Menard Zakaliya said they were excited to be back with the event.
“We have had challenges which made us fail to hold the event having held the first edition in 2019. Through this event, we want to portray a positive image of persons with albinism and show the world that we are capable of excelling in different disciplines,” Zakaliya said.

He further said Mr and Miss Albinism is intended to expose beauty, intelligence and abilities of persons with albinism.
“The budget for this event is K35 million. Let me therefore take this opportunity to appeal to the government, companies and organisations as well as well-wishers to support this initiative,” Zakaliya said.
The second edition of Mr and Miss Albinism will be held under the theme ‘Embrace Diversity to End Discrimination’.
Apart from the pageant, some of the activities that will take centre stage during the event include talent show, motivation talks from persons with albinism who have made it life and music performances.

Hilda Macheso, who is the current Miss Popularity and 2023 member of Sadc Youth Parliament, and Richard Mithi, who emerged as the second prince, represented Malawi at the event.
Bennett Phunyanya and Chikondi Kanjadza are the current Mr and Miss Albinism.
