The Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the upcoming March 17 By-elections are conducted in a smooth, credible, transparent and professional manner.
Mec acting Deputy Elections Officer responsible for operations, Hastings Botha, made the remarks in Mponela, Dowa District, during a two-day training of trainers (ToT) workshop organised by the commission.
Botha said Mec recognised the importance of adequately preparing its personnel for polls, stressing that elections require accuracy, coordination and strict adherence to procedures.
“We are committed to the smooth running of the elections. That is why we are equipping our officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage every stage of the process,” he said.

Meanwhile, Linthembwe Ward aspiring councillor Blessings Chaguza has commended the Commission for ensuring that electoral procedures are strictly followed.
