It was all smiles on Saturday for Felistus Mpinganjira and Gracious Banda who were crowned Mr and Miss Domasi College of Education respectively during a Cultural Weekend. Mpinganjira, a second year Bachelor of Education majoring in History and Social Studies student, outclassed other contestants to claim the crown.
She attributed her success to being confident and believing in herself.
“I am excited. I never saw this coming but glory be to God for the triumph,” Mpinganjira said. She has since indicated that through her crown, she intends to engage in charitable works among others. Desire Ginah Mkwichi was crowned First Princess with George Khaula as the First Prince.
The event also saw Priscilla Mitepa being crowned Miss Chubby. On his part, Banda, a second year Bachelor of Education English Languages student said he underwent massive rehearsals to prepare for the contest. “I never doubted my capabilities and this is why I have made it,” he said.
Domasi College of Education Entertain Director Gift Honde said the event gave students a platform to showcase their talents.
“Aside modelling, students had a chance to showcase their skills in acting and dancing. This was also a platform to appreciate different traditional dances,” Honde said.
Hosted by Television personality Super DT, the event received support from NBS Bank.
