Comedian Mr Jokes, real name Andrea Thonyiwa, on Friday treated people to a feast of his jokes at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre during an event dubbed An Experience With Mr Jokes Comedy Night.
This was one of Mr Joke’s biggest shows since he started his craft and he did not disappoint on a night in which he attracted good patronage.
As a headliner, he seemed to have prepared well for the event that saw him dressed strikingly as well.
Mr Jokes served so many jokes that resonated well with the audience in that he tackled issues that happen in society from religion, love, politics, education as well as economy and did not skip the issue of the recent devaluation of the Kwacha While some of the jokes were dry and not new, others were fresh and the plus for him is that he delivered them in his unique way and kept the audience lively and had them in stitches throughout.
Mr Jokes made sure that people got an assortment of performances on the night and they included those from poets Robert Chiwamba and Raphael Sitima, gospel musician Isaac The Duke Chizaka and comedians Mada and Linda aka Akhwaka.

Bon Kalindo, popularly known as Winiko, was billed to perform but did not. The celebrated artist, who is also an activist, was rearrested on Friday.
After finishing his set, which lasted for some time, Mr Jokes received huge applause from the audience before host of the event Times Television and Times Radio presenter Yankho Seunda, who is also a poet, requested for a rerun of the applause.
“I have watched Mr Jokes over the years but what we saw tonight is great. He has really enriched his game, I am not saying this because I was part of the performers but there is a huge improvement compared to the past,” Chiwamba said.
Actor Ben Maluwasa also concurred with Chiwamba that Mr Jokes has shown that he has what it takes to excel in the game.

“I have enjoyed the night, no doubt about that. We need such events, especially this time, we are going through a lot. We need all forms of art to entertain us,” Maluwasa said.
Mr Jokes hailed people for the support, saying it has motivated him to give out more.
“The turnout shows love. I am not stopping here. I will continue improving and, at the same, creating fresh jokes. I should also thank fellow artists from different disciplines for being part of this event and, most importantly, I say thank you to Amaryllis Hotel for supporting the creative sector,” he said.
After the show, some people took photographs with Mr Jokes..
