Chichiri Primary School in Blantyre got itself an early Christmas present on Wednesday courtesy of Mr Luc’s libraries, which opened its 36th library.
There was no library at the school.
Following the opening of Mr Luc’s libraries, led by French honorary consul to Malawi Luc Deschamps, learners will now be accessing books and reading in a conducive environment.
No wonder, the learners were excited, holding activities such as poetry and dance.

Jacaranda School for Orphans joined the party, showcasing Gule Wamkulu and other works.
The well-decorated library—with drawings of prominent figures such as South Africa’s former president Nelson Mandela and his powerful quote “Education is the most powerful tool which you can use to change the world” done by visual artist Jim Alufisher— stocks a variety of books.
One of the learners, Aleke Mangochi, said the opening of Mr Luc’s library, which has cost K5million, was a dream come true for the school.
“We will take care of the library so that it benefits us,” Mangochi said.

Deschamps said their goal was to donate libraries to all the districts of the country.
“The need is huge and the goal is to enhance learning at the primary level and encourage young people to read and write,” he said.
The school’s head teacher Robert Duwa praised Mr Luc’s for the library.
“Students can now have experiences beyond what a teacher reads to them and, at the same time, foster self-directed discovery,” Duwa said.
The library has been supported with funding from Professor John Heilman, who is the Board Secretary of Jacaranda Foundation.
