Unconfirmed reports indicate that two people have been nabbed for obstructing the convoy of President Lazarus Chakwera on Friday.
Reports we have gathered indicate that law enforcers on Monday rounded up the driver of an open vehicle that allegedly carried people who were on the way to HHI cemetery for a burial ceremony as well as an individual who is suspected to have stoned the presidential motorcade.
Our sources said both suspects were arrested in Ndirande Township, Blantyre.
When contacted, Ndirande Police Station spokesperson Maxwell Jailosi referred us to South West Division publicist Joseph Sauka.

Sauka also told us to contact Malawi Police Service spokesperson Peter Kalaya, who could neither confirm nor deny reports of the suspects’ arrest.
Chakwera’s convoy, which was on its way to Chileka International Airport in Blantyre, from where the President left the country for the Democratic Republic of Congo, stopped at HHI Round-about in the commercial city, as people who were part of a funeral procession from Ndirande Township heading towards HHI cemetery allegedly refused to give way to the motorcade.
The people wanted to first cross the road, which is against laws that guide presidential motorcade movements.
Some video clips that circulated on social media show some people chanting songs to the effect that the convoy had to stop and pave the way for the funeral procession.

The video clips also show someone throwing a stone at the motorcade.
The motorcade was forced to delay for some minutes.
