Lilongwe-based musician Chifuniro Banda has extended his artistry by authoring a book titled Distorted: What They Didn’t Say About Marriage.
He said on Monday that he was excited that he had finalised the book, whose inspiration stems from rising cases of divorce in the country and the world over.
“I have used music to tackle issues that are affecting the society in order to bring about change and, so, this time, I thought of stretching to writing, which I am also passionate about,” Banda said.
He said the book captures important but undisclosed realities of marriage.

The 37-year-old artist, who has been married for 11 years, said the book targets young people, newlyweds and those that are already in marriage.
“This book is there to prepare those who are unmarried so that their marital life experience should be lightened.
“Marriage is beautiful, in spite of the many challenges and, as such, there is nothing that should be hidden about it in our narratives,” he said.
Banda said marriage should be fun and be celebrated, hence taking a humorous angle on issues that make or break marriages.

With eight chapters, the book has addressed topics such as conflict resolution, communication, financial dynamics, shifting roles and the nature of intimacy.
