President Peter Mutharika has condemned mob killings and the spread of false rumours in Chikwawa and Nsanje districts, where seven people have died following unfounded allegations of missing private parts.
Mutharika, through his spokesperson Cathy Maulidi, described the killings as deeply unfortunate and unacceptable in this modern era.
“The President has directed law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to restore order and ensure that all perpetrators are brought to justice,” Maulidi said.
