Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) General Secretary (GS) Isaac Chimwala has said all national team players are equal and that, as such, they deserve the same treatment.
The development comes after former Malawi National Netball Team centre court player Takondwa Lwazi alleged that Nam officials had a hidden agenda to get rid of all senior players.
The Blue Eagles Sisters captain also faulted Nam for paying The Queens peanuts.
However, Chimwala said Nam has no intention of getting rid of senior players.
“All players are called into national team camp on merit. To that effect, no player is senior to the other in terms of having playing chances. As such, all players are given equal treatment. The statement could be coming in from disciplinary issues where, perhaps, some players wanted to be treated without paying attention to the code of conduct,” Chimwala said.

However, the Nam GS admitted that The Queens get allowances which are on the lower side.
“Nam has no control over this. The amount mentioned is a rate that has been approved and cleared by government. It is a correct observation that the rate is on the lower side, considering the current economic environment.
“Nam continues to engage the authorities to consider revising the rates. At the end of the day, playing for the national team should give players a sense of pride as they represent their country. It can be a gateway to greater opportunities as they can get scouted to play professional netball,” he said.
