Fount for Nations, World Vision Malawi and Ana Onse Mpata Umodzi organisations have urged State and non- State actors to join hands in generating funds for the education sector.
Fount for Nations Advocacy and Communications Officer Connex Kafera told stakeholders who gathered in Dowa District that poor funding is affecting education sector outcomes.
“Due to the problem of lack of funds, it is becoming difficult to promote equal opportunities in the education sector, with children who attend private schools enjoying access to quality education while those in public schools such as community day secondary schools do not have learning materials.
“This affects their performance in national examinations. Both State and non-State actors have to join hands to ensure that every child has access to quality education. When the education sector is adequately funded, it will become easy to purchase teaching and learning materials,” Kafera said.

Ministry of Education Chief Education Officer responsible for inclusive education, Peter Msendema, said they value partnerships that promote national development.
“And we know that through collaboration, we can meet goals set out for the education sector.
“These interventions are in line with the Malawi 2063 vision,” Msendema said.
Meanwhile, Senior Chief Kayembe, who was one of the participants, has urged community members to play their role in uplifting education standards in the country.
