Nico Group is stepping up efforts to attract United States (US) investors to Malawi through a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Industrialisation, Business, Trade and Tourism.
The initiative aims to showcase investment opportunities and strengthen Malawi’s position as an attractive destination for international capital.
The firm has engaged more than 25 potential US investors exploring opportunities across various sectors of the economy, including mining, tourism, agriculture and manufacturing, as part of a two-week economic tour that began on August 18, 2026.
In a statement, Nico Holdings plc Group Managing Director Vizenge Kumwenda said the tour was designed to give investors firsthand experience and knowledge of the investment opportunities available in Malawi.
“Malawi is an emerging market with significant long-term potential. It offers a compelling investment environment, underpinned by a welcoming population, a growing consumer class and a range of opportunities across sectors.

“For investors with a long-term perspective, we see considerable scope to participate in Malawi’s economic growth,” he said.
The initiative brings together Nico Group’s financial expertise and business networks with the government’s investment and industrialisation agenda, with a particular focus on connecting potential US investors with opportunities across key sectors of the Malawian economy.
Through the partnership, Nico Group and the ministry are promoting Malawi’s investment potential, highlighting opportunities for private-sector participation and facilitating engagement between international investors and local businesses.
Minister of Industrialisation, Business, Trade and Tourism Simon Itaye highlighted agriculture, tourism, mining and manufacturing, private-sector development, industrialisation, export growth, value addition and job creation as central pillars for transforming the economy.

“Malawi is open for business and presents a range of investment opportunities for domestic, regional and international investors,” Itaye said.
He said the country was strategically positioned in Southern Africa and offered access to a growing domestic market, as well as regional and continental markets.
US Embassy in Malawi Chargé d’Affaires Melania Arreaga said stronger commercial ties between Malawi and the US could create opportunities for both countries.
One of the US investors participating in the tour, Robert Shcarar, of Africap LLC, described Malawi as a promising market with significant opportunities for investment.
