The National Planning Commission (NPC) has handed over a certificate of compliance to Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party, which becomes the first political party in Malawi to receive the certificate for aligning its manifesto to the Malawi 2063 vision.
Speaking on Wednesday when handing over the certificate to party officials in Machinga, NPC Board Chairperson Professor Richard Mkandawire said they made the decision after scrutinising the party’s manifesto.
“We looked at their manifesto and are convinced that it conforms to requirements, as per the relevant Act of Parliament that mandates NPC to certify political party manifestos to ensure that they align to the Malawi 2063 [vision],” Mkandawire said.
He said they expect other political parties to follow suit and submit their manifestos to NPC.

“We welcome other political parties to submit their own manifestos and we look forward to engaging them further and ensuring that where there is a need for additional reflections of their submissions, we should be able to respond accordingly,” he said.
Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party secretary general Bishop Greyson Mikuwa expressed excitement with the move.
“We are excited because we were thinking that we were not going to be registered. As such, we are happy that we are also the first party to be certified by NPC in Malawi,” Mikuwa said.
Among other things, the party’s manifesto touched on continuation of projects started by previous regimes.
